2022 Alaska Wildland Fire Numbers | August 8

There have been five new fires reported since the last update Friday morning. Four were trees into powerlines on the Kenai Peninsula and the remaining was a structure fire outside of Fairbanks that spread into the wildland. All of these are contained, controlled and are being monitored.

The statewide cool, wet weather will continue through Tuesday.

Smokejumpers continue to protect Native Allotments threatened by the #GooseFire (#395) 15 miles north of Chalkyitsik. DOF firefighters are wrapping up on the #ClearFire (#346) with all personnel expected to demobilize today except for a small contingent of heavy equipment operators and supervisors. Weather has delayed road grading efforts.
