Open Burning

After clearing out the vegetation around your property, properly dispose of it by an approved method. Open burning may require a permit. While the State of Alaska requires a burn permit from April 1 through Aug. 31, contact your nearest fire agency for local requirements. Even if it may not be required at this time, the DOF burn permits have some very useful guidance for burning such as keep garden hoses and fire tools readily available: axe, shovel, rake or Pulaski. Never leave it unattended and ensure it's dead out when you're done. #TakeTimeToLearnBeforeYouBurn #NationalPreparednessMonth
