Census Bureau: 11.5% of people in Aleutians East Borough identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 3,409 citizens living in Aleutians East Borough in 2021, 88.5% said they were only one race, while 11.5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Aleutians East Borough who reported being of a single race in 2021 was American Indian or Alaska Native, comprising 44.1% or 1,505 individuals. Following them, Asian accounted for 20.9% and totaled 712 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Aleutians East Borough is 1.5% higher than the state average, which stands at 10%.
