Southwest Alaska Ecosystems issued the following announcement on March 11.
“Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen!?” - Superintendent Chalmers
Yes?!? May you see it? Cultural landscapes in the northern Alaska Region afford majestic views of the aurora borealis, including at Slaven’s Roadhouse, on the banks of the Yukon River. Slaven’s Roadhouse was built in 1932 near the confluence of Coal Creek with the Yukon River, and is a component of the Coal Creek Historic Mining District cultural landscape. No word if steamed hams are on the menu.
